Thaipantsman have actively been importing Thai Fisherman Pants for over
20 years. After routinely slogging out 10 years for a Melbourne based
manufacturing company I accepted a pro rata long service leave cheque and
introduced myself to South East Asia. A radical life change and best
decision I ever made! Early days were made filled with lazing around on
black sand beaches, surfing breaks around Canggu, leaping from bemo to
bemo, in and out of Cheap and Enticing Losmens of Indonesia and Lazing in
hot springs all while taking in the Bahasa Indonesia and Culture. I then
decided along with a group of British Backpackers to board a large boat,
(4th class with lines painted on squeaky floorboards in place of beds)
served fish heads and rice bound for Tanjin Penang. Tanjin to Singapore
and Train up through Malaysia to the blissful islands around the South of
Thailand, i.e, Samui, Phan gan, Pii Pii areas. On further North to the
sands of the Mekong is where the idea to bring these pants to Australia
sprung up. My Son was born and all I seemed to be wearing were locally
made Thai Brand Singlets or T-Shirts and THAI FISHERMAN PANTS.
I
was introduced to Thai Fisherman Pants early in 1988 by a Local NGO
Worker. We had a strong mutual agreement regarding the Thai Fisherman
Pants comfort style and versatility. These Pants suit all climates and
while they are originally designed for Fishing, all the locals all of a
sudden seemed to own a pair. The reason why became obvious to me after
trying the Pants. How often are you stuck to choose what to wear on your
travels. No more!
Thaipantsman also trading as Sooriya manufacture Thai Fisherman Pants
in 3 different fabrics and each being the “Rolls Royce” of the various
textures available. Based in Bangkok and Melbourne our manufacturing base
is cottage industry family business with an emphasis on Ethical Production
and the very finest quality workmanship and finishing. If your garment
bears the Thaipantsman label you know it’s the original design and your
garments quality and workmanship have not been compromised. Beware of
imitation being manufactured in Bali, India and Nepal. In these cases the
material quality, sewing is always compromised and the general integrity
and spirituality of the Garment is severley compromised.
