Thaipantsman have actively been importing Thai Fisherman Pants and Nepali Knitwear for over 20 years. After routinely slogging out 10 years for a Melbourne based manufacturing company I resigned and decided to split with  pro rata long service leave cheque in hand.   Why not introduced myself to some tropical and cultural delights of South East Asia? A radical change of direction and a good one to that stage! Early days were filled with lazing around on black sand beaches observing Sarong sellers marketing their wears while getting intimate with the locals, learing about tradition and culture, respect and acceptance of many things I did not understand or know of.   Lots of Friendships,  Bemo rides, delightful Hotsprings and Losmens later I decided to move on from Indonesia to Thailand.  This decision made together with a group of British Backpackers led us to board a large boat, (4th class with lines painted on squeaky floorboards for beds) served fish heads and rice bound for Tanjin Penang. Tanjin to Singapore and Train up through Malaysia to the blissful islands around the South of Thailand.   On further North to the Mountains of Northern Thailand  is where the idea to introduce these wonderful Free Size Thai Fisherman Pants came to mind. 

I was introduced to Thai Fisherman Pants by making a purchase at the local Market behind Chiang Mai University in 1988.  I quickly learnt the Thai Fisherman Pants suit all climates and while they are originally designed for Fishing, all the locals all of a sudden seemed to own a pair. (Of course they already owned more than one pair and I only just began to notice!) The reason why became obvious to me after trying the Pants. How often are you stuck to choose what to wear on your travels and after choosing discovered you have made a big mistake.  Waste of money!  No more! No more tight jeans encroaching into your private regions on those long train, bus and plane trips.  This is bliss!! Pants that fit and can be confident will fit without even trying them on!

Thaipantsman also trading as Sooriya commenced trading these Pants  into Australia in  1989 .  Thaipantsman manufacture Thai Fisherman Pants in 3 different fabrics and each being first grade of the various textures available. Based in Bangkok and Melbourne our manufacturing source  is cottage industry family business.  We are also actively involved with Nepali Hand knit production of seriously warm Sweaters, Jackets, Socks, Gloves, Mittens Beanies, Scarves, Shawls and Ponchos.  Heavy emphasis on Ethical Production and the very finest quality workmanship and finishing all manufactured in a happy, harmonious, safe, clean working environment from the  start ordering materials, to cutting, sewing, finishing, packing and marketing all in the one area, under the one roof and in the one happy atmosphere and environment.
